DESCRIPTION:Speaker: Jeff Achter\, Colorado State\n\nIt has been known for some time that to a complex cubic surface or threefold one can canonically associate a principally polarized. I will explain a construction which works for cubics over an arithmetic base, and discuss what this tells us about the structure of the moduli space of cubic surfaces.
