      • We invite you to join our first Applied Math Final Exam Prep, where graduate students will be available to answer questions for courses including 2280, 3160, 3210, 3220, 5010, 5210, 5310.
    • SIAM Wasatch Student Chapters Conference
      Saturday April 21, 2018
      • Students and faculty members researching applied mathematics are invited to attend the first SIAM Wasatch Student Chapters Conference. This conference will be hosted by the SIAM student chapter at the University of Utah. The aim is to cultivate connections amongst early career applied math researchers and faculty members from Wasatch universities. This conference will be held on April 21st and consist of a series of informal presentations with lunch provided. Graduate student attendees are encouraged to present an introduction to their research interests to spur discussions between unacquainted attendees. Registration and abstracts will be due on April 1st. Funding for travel can be provided.

    • UoU and Westminister COMAP Solutions Presentation
      February 29, 2016, 6:00 - 8:00PM in LCB 323
      • The COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) is an annual international contest where teams of three undergraduate students use mathematical modeling to solve a real world problem. On February 29th from 6PM to 8PM in LCB 323, the SIAM student chapter at UoU will host a joint meeting of COMAP teams from UoU and Westminister. Participating teams will present their solutions from the contest and reflect on their experiences. Everyone is invited to attend to listen to the results of the analysis of all 8 teams. If you have a strong interest in mathematical modeling, you are encouraged to come. If you have an interest in pizza, then the SIAM student chapter will be providing pizza and other refreshments.
    • Graduate Alumni Panel
      October 22, 2015, 1:00 - 2:00PM in JWB 335
      • The SIAM student chapter at the University of Utah is hosting a graduate alumni panel. The panelists are alumni of the math graduate program at UoU. They will discuss how their choices during their graduate career shaped their options, why they decided on their career path and how they arrived to their current positions. Each panelist will spend about 12 minutes to give their professional narratives and there will be time for questions after they speak. The goal of the panel is provide current graduate students with a perspective of their career options. Lunch with vegan options will be provided. NO RSVP.

        Speakers: Jeremy Morris, Insights and Innovation Lead, Domo, Inc. and Charlie Casper, Associate Professor, University of Utah, Department of Pediatrics.
